The Faith of the Son: Rising Above Creation to Live by Heaven's Economy

Faith is not merely a Christian religious exercise; it is the very fabric and foundation of all existence. Long before humanity was called to believe, the universe itself was spoken into being through faith.

Hebrews 11:3 establishes this fundamental truth: "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

Creation was a grand movement of faith. Everything in the physical realm operates under a divine decree and a measure of functional faith assigned to it by the Creator.

The Faith Inherent in Creation

There is an underlying order and law built into the natural world, a creation faith that holds the universe together:

The Heavens and the Clouds: There is a divine law that holds heavy, water-laden clouds suspended in the sky without crashing down all at once (Job 26:8).
The Sun and Stars: The sun rises daily and maintains its exact trajectory in the solar system without failing because it obeys the ordinance of heaven (Jeremiah 31:35).
The Earth and Vegetation: A tree stands firm, sinks its roots deep, and brings forth fruit in its season according to the invisible law programmed into its seed (Genesis 1:11–12).
Angelic Orders: Even the Cherubim and Seraphim operate by the exact realm of faith and authority assigned to their order in the heavenly realm to fulfill God's will.

Every creature abides by the parameters of its creation. But man was not designed to live merely by the natural rhythm of creation, nor by the fallen, anxious belief system of the world. Man was called to live by the very faith of his Creator.

The Original Fall: How Unbelief Bounded Humanity

The true essence of the fall was a departure from heavenly faith into the dark trap of unbelief.

This tragic pattern began before human history with the anointed cherub, Lucifer. As Isaiah 14:13–14 and Jude 1:6 reveal, the original sin occurred when the cherub disdained his assigned estate, began to take thought for his own life outside of where God had placed him, and said in his heart: "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God... I will be like the most High." He left his dependence on God to manufacture his own exaltation and self-preservation.

When the serpent entered the Garden of Eden, his subtle trap was to replicate this exact same fall in humanity. He seduced man to step out of total reliance on God's word and start taking thought for his own life. By convincing man that God was withholding something good, the devil plunged humanity into deep unbelief.

Man's fall was a spiritual collapse from heavenly trust into an anxious, earth-bound posture of self-preservation. From that moment, man lost his quiet rest in God and became consumed with worrying about his own life, protection, and provision.

Jesus exposed this exact fallen mindset in Matthew 6:31–32: "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things."

When our capacity to believe is trapped in taking thought for survival, scrambling for what to eat, drink, and wear, we are operating in the fruit of the Adamic fall. It is a posture of unbelief that treats God as distant and forces man to rely on his own self-directed hustle.

The Coming of Jesus and the Faith of the Son

When Jesus Christ stepped into human history, He came to undo the lie of the serpent and rescue us from the trap of unbelief. He did not operate by the fallen, self-preserving mindset of men, nor merely by the general faith of creation. He came with a unique, higher dimension of faith: The Faith of the Son of God.

Where Adam fell by taking thought for himself, Jesus completely surrendered His life to the Father. He was exposed to a specific heavenly program, the program of Eternal Salvation. Every miracle He wrought, every word He spoke, and every step of obedience He took was fueled by a faith focused entirely on doing the Father's will.

He Pleased the Father: Jesus declared in John 8:29, "I do always those things that please him." Because Hebrews 11:6 notes that "without faith it is impossible to please him," Jesus’ entire life was the ultimate manifestation of faith.
He Depended Fully on the Father: In John 5:19, Jesus explained, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."
He Overcame the Temptation of Self-Preservation: In the wilderness, when tempted to turn stones into bread to satisfy His own hunger, Jesus refused to take thought for His life outside God's word, declaring, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).
He Conquered through the Cross: Through His complete trust in the Father, He endured the cross, despised the shame, and submitted to the Father's plan of redemption (Hebrews 12:2).

Jesus did not use faith to accumulate earthly prestige or build a temporal empire. His faith was the divine instrument through which Heaven's life, authority, and righteousness were administered on earth.

Living by the Economy and Administration of Heaven

As believers, the Faith of the Son breaks the power of unbelief over our lives and restores us to complete trust in the Father.

The Apostle Paul captured this glorious transition in Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Notice that Paul does not say he lives merely by faith in the Son of God, but by the faith OF the Son of God. It is His very capacity to believe, His perfect trust in the Father, and His heavenly intelligence imparted to us through the Gospel.

When we step out of the fallen Adamic mindset and live by the Faith of the Son:

We Are Freed from the Trap of Taking Thought: We stop worrying about self-preservation, knowing that as we seek His kingdom and righteousness, our Heavenly Father takes care of all our physical needs (Matthew 6:33).
We Reject the Lie of the Serpent: We no longer seek to exalt ourselves or build our own thrones; instead, we find our rest and security in remaining where God has placed us.
We Align with Heaven's Economy: We realize our primary citizenship and supply originate from the heavenly realm (Philippians 3:20).
We Walk in True Sonship: We move from being anxious, earth-bound creatures to sons of God who receive the doctrine, instructions, and eternal inheritance of the Father.

The Faith of the Son delivers us out of the realm of unbelief. It elevates our walk beyond mere survival, anchoring our souls in the administration of Jesus Christ, enabling us to please the Father, overcome the world, and walk in the fullness of His eternal salvation.
